Ladies football began in Claregalway in 2002. The first training session took place on April 28th 2002 with six Girls in attendance. Since then the Club has developed at a rapid pace and from entering 2 Teams at u-14/16 in 2003 it now fields 12 Teams and has over 180 girls playing the sport ranging in grades from Under 6 girls to Senior Ladies.
Claregalway LGFA promotes women in sport at every level being involved in “Gaelic for Girls” and “Gaelic for Mothers and others”. Claregalway Ladies have captured County Division 1 titles at all grades up to and including Minor. The Clubs’ Under 14s’ won the Division 1 National Feile in 2010 and 2011 and the Kilmacud Sevens in 2007 and 2011 and 2017. The Club achieved Senior status in 2013 when the Ladies won the All-Ireland Intermediate Title. There are footballers proudly representing Claregalway LGFC on every County team from Under 14 to Senior.
