Membership & Foireann Help Centre
Welcome to our Claregalway GAA & LGFA membership help page. This page is here to guide members, parents, players, coaches and supporters through the Foireann registration process and help make membership as smooth as possible this year.
Whether you are joining for the first time, renewing membership, registering a juvenile, or setting up a family group, the steps below will help you get sorted quickly and correctly.
Why membership matters
Claregalway GAA & LGFA provides opportunities for players of all ages to stay active, develop skills, build confidence, make friendships and be part of a strong local community.
Membership helps support coaching, facilities, equipment, day-to-day running costs and the continued growth of our club. It also plays an important role in ensuring players are properly registered and affiliated.
Membership and registration are a requirement for participation in Gaelic games. Players must be fully registered through Foireann before taking part in official activity. This also links to player welfare and eligibility under the relevant schemes and regulations.
Before you begin
- Have access to your Foireann account, or use the forgot username/password options if needed.
- Make sure Claregalway is added to your profile before trying to purchase membership.
- Parents/guardians registering juveniles should set up their Family section first.
- Juvenile players do not need their own separate Foireann account.
- Please only choose LGFA membership where the member is involved on the LGFA side.
Step-by-step membership guide
Follow these steps carefully and in order. In most cases, members who get stuck are missing one of the early setup steps.
Log in to Foireann
Go to Foireann and sign in. If you are unsure whether you already have an account, use the forgot username or forgot password options before creating a new one.
Make sure Claregalway is on your profile
Before purchasing membership, check that Claregalway has been added to your profile.
- Log in to Foireann
- Go to Profile
- Scroll to My Clubs
- Select Add Club / Add Another Club if needed
- Choose Association GAA
- Choose County Board Galway
- Search for Claregalway
- Save your changes
Set up your Family group if registering others
If you are registering juveniles, students or other family members, make sure your Family section is set up correctly first.
- Go to Family in the left-hand menu
- Create a family if you do not already have one
- Add children and any relevant adults
- Review and save the family details
Select the correct membership option
Once your profile and family setup are correct, go to the Membership section in Foireann, choose Claregalway, and select the correct membership type.
- Choose the correct class such as adult, juvenile, student, family or other relevant option
- Assign the correct people to the correct membership categories
- Make sure the correct association and playing level are selected where relevant
Complete payment and confirm registration
Complete payment in Foireann to finalise the process. Until payment is completed and registration is properly submitted, membership will not be fully in place.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a new Foireann account this year?
Usually not. Most existing members should use their current Foireann account. If you cannot access it, use the recovery options before creating a new account.
Does my child need their own Foireann account?
No. Juvenile players do not need their own separate account. They should be added to a parent/guardian Family group.
Can I register more than one person?
Yes. That is exactly what the Family section is for. Set up your family properly first and then assign the correct people to the correct membership options.
What if I pick the wrong membership option?
If you are unsure, pause before paying and contact the club. It is much easier to sort questions before the wrong option is submitted.
Is membership required before training and matches?
Yes. Membership and registration are a mandatory requirement and players must be fully registered before taking part.
What if cost is a difficulty for our family?
Please contact the club directly and in confidence. The club wants to be inclusive and supportive, and financial circumstances should not become a barrier to participation.
Still stuck? We are here to help.
We know that any new process can take a little getting used to, especially in the first year of a change. If you have reviewed the guidance above and are still having trouble, please get in touch and we will do our best to point you in the right direction.
Early registration is a huge help to the volunteers managing membership and registration, so we would really encourage members to complete the process as early as possible.
