Strictly Claregalway 2018 Review

What an incredible Strictly Claregalway event and night for the whole community of Claregalway on Friday week last at the Claregalway hotel.

The village was thronged and buzzing from 6 pm with some 800 plus attending the social occasion of the year. Truly remarkable that this event sparks the imagination of the whole area and again this year delivered a wonderful nights entertainment from start to finish.

Major credit has to go the team of dancers 12 couples in total who took to the floor with abandon twirling twisting and stepping out to jives and Charleston with Jim Noone and Grainne Parker emerging victorious. It has to said however that any couple was worthy of that trophy as this was truly a show where all were winners on the night.

Massive thanks has to go this group and organising team this year for making “Strictly Claregalway season 3” another incredible success. Special mention has to Hughes Supervalu for overall main sponsorship and the host of local businesses who once again showed their support and we strongly encourage all to think local when seeking products and services. Please check out Claregalway GAA website and Facebook pages for all the cool photos and video clips along with Claregalway Info pages. Rock on “Season 4”!!!!!

Where does the money go?

First of all if you’re a reading this we would like to thank
you very much as you have most likely Purchased a ticket ,
contributed sponsorship money or paid up membership to
Claregalway GAA Club and we think you may like to know
what happens to these funds.
There are many aspects of how the activity of the club is financed every year,
this includes membership and pledges, the local lotto, the CDG disco and a host
of smaller fund raising activities by different sections of the club and individual
teams. Additionally we have supberb loyal sponsors who support us year in year
out. This is all needed to service loans , pay affiliations and for the general running
of teams. Outside this we do organize special events such as Strictly to boost
actual development works.
From the outset we are delighted to confirm that 100% of fundraising goes to
actual work and projects in the club and more specifically this event “Strictly
Claregalway” goes towards the ongoing works at our community development at
Knockdoemore Park. We do not have administration cost as all involved, work in
a voluntary basis or capacity which means the money is actually spent directly on
the works. An Example of those works are:
• 3 Full sized GAA Pitches
• Ball catchers
• A 1Km community walkway now extended around floodlight pitch
(Walkway is actually lit until 10PM and can be used 365 days of year
• State of the Art club rooms with 4 dressing rooms meeting rooms,
and a new community gathering room on top floor
• Modern flood lighting system
• Extensive safe car parking
• A specially developed winter training pitch
• New community room
• Boundary walls and fencing
For your information we have now as a club invested some 1.5M plus in the whole
project and the incredible news is we have paid off almost 1.2M+ of this over the
years and this is only possible with the incredible community support we receive
week in week out.
We are delighted that a whole wide spectrum of the local community are using the
facilities from the new athletic club just formed last year with up to 150 kids involved,
the local scout group, Forogie Club , Various Music Groups for rehearsal and of
course up to 20 different teams and groups in the Club. Additionally we support all
the local schools and colleges providing access for their games.

Thanks again for all of your support.
