ORIS Grant announced for Knockdoemore-Lackagh Greenway

Sean Canney TD, Minister for State at the Department of Rural Affairs has today announced funding of €185,546 from his Department under measure 3 of the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme for a walkway scheme linking the Claregalway Sports Park at Knockdoemore with Lackagh Village. Mr Canney said he was delighted to make the announcement .”Its a great result for the local communities ,linking two parishes on a most scenic and historic Route. Special thanks should go to Mr Frank Kearney and his family for their generosity in providing the land. Deputy Noel Grealish worked closely with me on this project “ said Mr Canney today.

Local Community Development Group, Cairde Mor, acknowledged the grant announcement. ”This is the culmination of persistent campaigning for funding over the last 5 years. It would not have happened without Frank Kearney and his family providing the land for this wonderful Rural Walkway and Park facility. Planning permission was granted recently so we would hope to get the works completed over the summer. We look forward to the walkway becoming a wonderful recreational asset ,linking together all the sports, recreational and community facilities in the Knockdoemore and Lackagh areas for generations to come.”
