Congratulations to our Minor A team on a hard-fought victory by one point after extra time against an excellent Oranmore Maree team in the county semi-final.

The sides were level 5-5 at half time and with time almost up we trailed by 4 points. A late free from D. Fitzmaurice and a goal from C. Feeney forced extra time.

We showed tremendous character and won by a point!

Final score Oranmore Maree 0-13 Claregalway 1-11. Preparations now begin for a county final against Tuam Stars in 2 weeks’ time!

This will be our third meeting this year.

Supervalu Schools Competition:

On the evening of Wednesday, October 11th, we are gearing up for the exciting conclusion of the Claregalway GAA National Schools competition. The atmosphere promises to be a blend of camaraderie and fierce competition.

For the second consecutive year, we are extremely grateful for the continued support of Hughes Supervalu and Flynns Supervalu. We’d also like to extend our appreciation to Treat Café for generously providing tea and coffee during the event.

Last year, the final evening drew a massive crowd of parents, relations and friends to witness the talents of the players representing each of the seven participating schools: Claregalway National School, Claregalway Educate Together, Carnmore National School, Lackagh National School, Bawnmore National School, Cregmore National School, and Coolarne National School.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the boys’ and girls’ teams from these schools for their enthusiastic participation. We eagerly anticipate an outstanding evening of football on the 11th. Throw in times TBC but will be Circa 17:15 for the boys games and 18:15 for the girls.

In the event of poor weather on the 11th, please pencil in Thursday the 12th as backup. Please keep an eye on our social media for update.

As we are expecting a large crowd, we would ask that people carpool where possible.

We wish to acknowledge a grant from the 2020 Sports Capital and equipment programme via the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.

This grant totalling €17,500 was used for grass cutting equipment.

Thanks to Tony Clarke for driving this grant application, the club members are grateful for your extensive work on grant applications and other club business over the years.
