The Minors won the North Board Minor A final in October (Match report HERE) however lost out to Salthill-Knocknacarra in the County final. A great season none the less, a bright future ahead.

In early October Claregalway defeated Moycullen in the U13A League Final in Knockdoemore. Game was played in very blustery and testing conditions. Claregalway started with the breeze and settled into the game quickly scoring from some well worked plays in the first 10 minutes. Moycullen were under constant pressure from their kick outs and eventually Claregalway opened their goal scoring account to lead 2-6 to 0-2 points at half time.
Claregalway continued to dominate the second half with some excellent support play and accurate passing to repeatedly open up the Moycullen defense outscoring their opponents 3-7 to 0-1 point in the second half. Claregalway ran out deserving winners with the game finishing 5-13 to 0-3.
Credit to all the players for an excellent display of football and to the management team their dedication and commitment to coaching this talented group of players.

The U15’s won the Shield Final v St James on a scoreline of 0-10 to 1-5 in October.

The younger Juveniles finished up training in late October. Some pictures of some of the last training sessions are here:

Recent Ladies News:

In Early October the Juniors put in a strong effort against a Division 2 side Leitir Mor in the Junior A semi-final but the concession of two injury time goals left Claregalway trailing at halftime by 4-1 to 0-7. This young Team matched their opponents in the second half but were unable to close the gap and lost out on a Final score of 6-6 to 1-8. In their first year up in Junior A it was a great achievement to reach a County semi-final and the future is bright for this Team.

The Seniors took on holders Kilkerrin\Clonbern in their semi-final. The Claregalway Girls set the pace for much of the opening half and led for most of it but the concession of frees before the break left them trailing by 0-6 to 0-4 at halftime. Claregalway continued their good form into the second half and when Deirdre Brennan found the Clonberne net the sides were level 1-5 to 0-8 with 15 minutes to play. But from then on the greater experience and fitness of the 5 times County Champions told as they hit 2 goals and ran out 2-14 to 1-6 winners, a scoreline that doesn’t do justice to the gallant efforts of the Claregalway Girls. This brings a disappointing end to another season in the Senior ranks for Claregalway. Maybe 2019 with renewed effort and better luck on the injury front might see this team reach it potential.

Congratulations to Eimile Gavin on being selected at corner back on the 2018 Claregalway Hotel Ladies Dream Team.
