Baile Chláir na Gaillimhe 6-13 Cloch Liath (Dún na nGall) 4-06
Baile Chláir na Gaillimhe proved too strong for Cloch Liath at Comórtas Peil na Gaeltachta in Rath Chairn, Co na Mí, last Monday.
This was the second year in a row that Claregalway have been the victors in Comórtas at Senior level. A very productive first half showed a team who were hungry in attack and excelling in defence, resulting in a Claregalway lead at halftime 4-03 to 0-02.
The second half saw Anthony Boyle’s charges emerge in a far more determined frame of mind and they managed to put four goals and five points past the Claregalway defence. However, Baile Chláir held on for a memorable victory.
Every team member played their part in this victory, but Kiera Kearney (1-01), who commenced the goal scoring spree, must be commended for her work rate all day. Andrea Trill (3-01) was awarded Player of the Game and was a threatening presence in the forwards, while Kate Slevin (2-08) scored some fantastic long-range points.
A very proud captain Ava O’Riordan (0-02) led by example while Ciana Reidy (0-01) completed the scoring. Captain Ava accepted the trophy on behalf of the team and spoke of her pride and delight in being part of this winning team, while acknowledging the efforts of Cloch Liath.

It wasn’t to be over the weekend for the Galway Under 14 girls who lost out in the All Ireland final.

As well as the significant investment in the 4th Pitch in Knockdoemore the past 12 months have seen significant enhancements around the club:
-Car Park Enhancements
-Goal Mouth Improvements
-Fencing around pitches
-Storage cages for training gear – thanks to Greene Steel for their support with building and installing the cages to store training gear.
-Scoreboards – Thanks to Glynns Fruit and Veg and Flynns of Lackagh for their support with the scoreboards.
-Completion of Hughes Pitch.
In the coming weeks the enhancements below are planned.
